Supercapacitor

The plates of a supercapacitor (or ultracapacitor) have a significantly larger area, and the distance between them is much smaller, since the separator between them functions in a different manner to a regular dielectric. Despite the fact that the terms “supercapacitor” and “ultracapacitor” are commonly used interchangeably, there is a difference: they are often constructed from different materials and organised in somewhat different ways, thus they store different quantities of energy. Our brief introduction will presume that the two things are interchangeable.
